Rho Nu Continues to Award Excellence

Galveston, TX (PN) -The Rho Nu Chapter Thomas H. Warren Scholarship recognizes academic excellence, leadership and service to the community. These qualities are what Rho Nu feels a student should exhibit in accordance with our fraternity's cardinal principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift. The scholarship is named in honor of Bro. Thomas H. Warren who was a founding member of the Rho Nu Chapter in Galveston, Texas. Bro. Warren was initiated at Fisk University in 1926.

The 2007 Thomas H. Warren Scholarship was presented to Mr. Michael Brown of Galveston Ball High School. Mr. Brown's academic achievements placed him at the top of his class where he was ranked 12 out of 533 graduating seniors. He is a member of the National Honor Society, President of the National Technical Honor Society at Galveston Ball High School, and was Vice-President of the 2007 Senior Class.. He will be attending Texas A&M University in the fall of 2007 where he will major in Engineering.

Scholarship Fundraiser Success

Galveston, TX (PN) - During a break in partying at the Ques and Dawgs III party given by Rho Nu Chapter; Alexis Brown of Bellingham, WA won the raffle for 100 Gallons of Gas.

Party goers in attendance were also eligible to win two pair of Houston Texans preseason tickets. Winning a pair of Texans' preseason tickets each, were Deion Hillman of Texas City and Shauntelle Smith of Hitchcock, TX. Another fundraiser is scheduled for later this summer to raffle off tickets to the Texan's home games.

The officers and members of Rho Nu Chapter would like to thank everyone that supported the raffle and QDIII party. Proceeds from the Gas Raffle and Q&D party benefit Rho Nu's T.H. Island Bruhs Beach Cleanup

...Turning the Tide against Trash

Galveston, TX (PN) - Rho Nu Chapter: Blessed with good weather and good friends, Rho Nu Chapter participated in the Texas Adopt-A-Beach Spring Cleanup on Galveston Island on Saturday April 28, 2007. Assigned to the Bermuda Beach section of the island, the bruhs, along with other friends; cleaned a half-mile stretch of the coastline of litter and debris that presents a safety risk to beachgoers and detracts from the island's beauty. Beach Cleanup is an annual community service project of the chapter and strengthens Rho Nu's bonds with the community and amongst the brothers. Rho Nu's efforts contributed to the removal of 143 tons of trash and debris form the Texas coastline. (See GLO Press Release)

After the beach cleanup, the bruhs went to The University of Texas Medical Branch hospital to fellowship with Bro. Fred Henry who was recuperating from surgery. Rho Nu's Chaplain, Bro. Joe Gordon lead the brothers in prayer, uplifting Bro. Henry and his wife Sharon.
